Parents and student athletes,

We continue to thank all of you for your patience and understanding as we formulate plans to get summer activities going. The health and safety of everyone involved is our highest priority as we make our decisions. We will always follow the State of Kansas, Johnson County, and KSHSAA guidelines and recommendations. Our medical team at St. Luke’s Sports Medicine Specialists has been consulted on our plans and will continue to be of great assistance to us.

As of today May 29, 2020, this is our plan for High School and Grade School camps and workouts.

High School Outdoor voluntary workouts will begin Monday, June 15th with 45 or less. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

High School INDOOR voluntary workouts, including open gyms, weight training, and High School team summer camps will begin on Monday, July 6th with 60 or less. The SJA building, classrooms, fitness center, restrooms, and locker rooms will remain completely closed from now until July 6th.

Youth summer indoor and outdoor camps will begin starting July 13th. Times and locations of these camps will be updated and open for registration on our website by Monday, June 1.

Before starting any conditioning or camp sessions, we will have concise guidelines concerning cleanliness, safety, sanitization, temperature checks, attendance logs, restrooms, waivers, and parent drop-off policies.

Who could have imagined that our world would be suffering as it is due to COVID19? Our nation over the past two and a half months has seen over 100,000 deaths, record unemployment figures, and unprecedented misery. Faith, prayers, and resiliency are needed more than ever. Please contact me at mhuppe@sjakeepingfaith.org or 913-254-4284 with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your patience and support of our student athletes!

Stay safe and God Bless,

Mark Huppe
