Kansas Honor Scholars The Kansas Honor Scholar Program has been a KU tradition since 1971 and has honored more than 140,000 high school seniors—from all 105 Kansas counties and approximately 360 high schools—for ranking academically in the top 10 percent of their class. It is designed to promote academic excellence in secondary education, to reward high school seniors for their hard work and dedication, and to support Kansas communities.

In 2019, the Alumni Association and KU’s Office of Admissions and Scholarships awarded $1,000 scholarships to Kansas Honor Scholars Patrick Brazil, Ty Murray, Brady Feldman, Max Kalny, Michal Bartkoski, Jordan Clark, Daniel Schermerhorn, Patrick Keating, Aiden Bourman, Karly Somerhalder, Macy Steinlage, Natalie Stork, Lauren Kropf, Jaida Collins, Bridget Schippers, Bridget Sexton, Laura Aykroyd, Kate Wald, Maureen Reilly, Clare Hotze, Sydney Barragree, Dylan Feist, Anna Johnson, Erick Johnson, Katherine Moore, and Matthew Newkirk.
