Dear St. James Academy Freshmen parents and students:
We are so excited to have our fourth annual Freshmen Mixer 2.0 at St. James Academy on Saturday, February 10th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m! At St. James Academy, it is our mission to be a guiding force in the Catholic formation of our students. Every aspect of our students’ lives is a way in which they show their Catholic values, including how to dress and act. The following facts regarding our Freshman Mixer 2.0 outline the event plans and administration’s expectations:
Selecting clothes for a special event can be exciting, but current styles are often inappropriately revealing. We ask your help in ensuring that your children are dressed modestly. Those wearing attire judged to be too revealing or provocative would be asked to change or leave the mixer. Immodest attire includes, but is not limited to, dresses that are excessively short, dip below the waist in the back, are excessively low in front, are excessively tight, or expose the midriff. Please see the St. James Academy Student Handbook for more specifics. Also, any guest dancing provocatively will be told to stop and will be disciplined and required to leave the dance if they persist.
Unfortunately, young people do not always make the best choices with respect to Christian modesty. It is our joint role, as educators and parents, to teach and guide them to make appropriate decisions regarding behavior and attire. Teenage alcohol and drug use is the number one problem facing families and is often responsible for ruining festive events like this.
What parents can do:
We want all events at St. James to be positive and in line with our mission. We ask your help in supporting these guidelines so that a common message is given from the entire St. James community. We look forward to St. James Academy events that are filled with the joys of the Christian life.
Yours in Christ,
St. James Academy Administration
